*Note--Damian Rhodes was wearing #1 during the 94-95, but has shoulder patches honouring both players. The patches are slightly different in style to reflect the logo at the time the honoured goalie played. Very Nice.

Bill Barilko
After scoring the overtime goal in game 5 of the 1950-51 Stanley Cup playoffs to win the Cup, Bill Barilko disappeared on a fishing trip that summer. Immortalized in a Tragically Hip song, the Toronto Maple Leafs did not win another Stanley Cup until his body was discovered in 1962.
Irvin "Ace" Bailey
One of the flashier Maple Leafs in their history, "Ace" Bailey suffered a terrible injury from a body-check from behind by Eddie Shore. Some have said the check was the result of an attempt to injure Bailey by Shore for a previous occurrance. Nevert heless, Bailey was immediately hospitalized and almost died as a result of the check. He could not risk playing hockey ever again, and so the NHL and the Toronto Maple Leafs held a benefit game to raise funds for him and his family. This game became the predecesor to the annual All-Star games.
